TN Law University signs pact with ICSI for research and development programs

Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University and the Institute of Corporate Secretaries of India (ICSI) will collaborate in academic research, organize workshops and also organize professional development programs for students and scholars from both institutes.

The institutions recently signed an agreement under the ICSI Academic Collaborations Initiative.

Devendra Vasant Deshpande, Vice President of ICSI, explained the need for the partnership. “Governance is not just about policies, procedures and policing, but it is the new leadership paradigm. Good governance of the future would be aligned with the principle of prompt decisions, therefore, the efforts of the two institutes will ensure maximum value creation in corporate governance,” he said.

N. Balasubramanian, Chairman of ICSI South India Regional Council, said the two institutions have identified some areas of mutual cooperation. The University would recognize the Corporate Secretary qualification as the equivalent of a postgraduate degree for admission to PhD in Management/Business and related programs at the University, subject to equivalency by the Association of Indian universities and statutory bodies.

The Institute would organize workshops, seminars, continuing education programs and academic programs for practicing professionals, business executives and faculty members, researchers and students of the University on a stand-alone basis. .

The Institute has planned to award Gold Medals and Certificates of Merit to the best of B.Com LLB (Hons). Three top exam takers would be eligible for the tuition waiver when registering for the Executive Program CS course. The University will facilitate CS students through its study center.

The university’s vice-chancellor, NS Santhosh Kumar, said the venture would not only help foster a relationship between the partner institutes but also highlight new opportunities.
