The Advanced Computing Development Center at IIT Roorkee inaugurated a supercomputing facility on March 7, 2022.

NEW DELHI: A supercomputing infrastructure has been established at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee by the Center for Advanced Computing Development (CDAC), under the National Supercomputing Mission, to support research and development. The facility was established at IIT Roorkee as a joint initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The IIT Roorkee Supercomputing Facility was inaugurated on March 7, 2022 by BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Roorkee. An agreement had been signed between IIT Roorkee and CDAC to establish a supercomputing facility.

“The new high-performance computing facility would help researchers solve complex problems of national and global significance,” said a statement from IIT Roorkee.
According to the release, the institute will contribute to the national supercomputing mission by building capacity and providing professional training for manpower needed for supercomputing research.

“IIT Roorkee will perform advanced research and capacity building using this supercomputing infrastructure developed under NSM. direct contact liquid cooling systems, are made in India in line with the initiative of the Indian government of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” said BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIT Roorkee.

“The National Supercomputing Mission was launched in India in 2015 with the aim of establishing state-of-the-art facilities to foster advanced research in computing-intensive fields. Under this mission, IIT Roorkee and C-DAC will are associated to make PARAM Ganga This will give a great boost to the research activities of IIT Roorkee in many different fields,” said Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director of IIT Roorkee.
