TUMAKURU: Thirumani hobli in Pavagada taluk, home to Asia’s largest solar park, has now witnessed the launch of a new ‘Roshni’ project, which aims to train the region’s unemployed youth. Five years ago, local farmers gave their land to the solar park and many companies established renewable energy plants to generate electricity.

‘Roshni’ is the initiative of Tata Power Renewable Energy. In collaboration with Siddhartha Construction Company, he opened a Vocational Skills Development Center in Thirumani, under the CSR framework of TPREL-TATA POWER, managed by Lok Bharathi Education Society, under the aegis of the National Skill Development Corporation . The training offered includes sewing, craft design and cell phone repair.

Nani of Siddhartha Construction Company, who inaugurated the vocational training centre, said he hoped the unemployment problem in the area would be solved. Initially, the center focused on training women in sewing and embroidery in 45 days.

Women who complete the training receive sewing machines and a certificate. In the coming years, Tata Power plans to launch other courses such as hardware and networking for the unemployed.
