Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Organizational Landscape Review: Privacy Notice for Invitation to Consult

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Department (BEIS(RDI) organizational landscape. You can respond by email.

This Privacy Notice sets out:

  • how we process your personal data when you respond to the invitation to consult
  • the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)

For information you submit via email, the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is the data controller.

Goal

We collect your personal data as part of the consultation process so that we can contact you regarding your response or related questions.

BEIS may wish to publish parts or all of the content of responses submitted through this process, and will notify organizations if so, but exclude all personal data.

The data we collect

We collect and process the following personal data:

  • your name
  • Your email address
  • any personal data you provide as proof or example in your response to the invitation to consult

The legal basis for processing your personal data is the performance of a task in the public interest. We seek stakeholder views on the research, development and innovation organizational landscape, to inform the review’s findings and recommendations.

Why we need it

We collect your name and email address so that we:

  • know you are a real person
  • can respond to your comments

What we do with your data

BEIS may wish to publish parts or all of the content of responses submitted through this process, and will notify organizations if so, but exclude all personal data.

We will not:

  • sell or rent your data to third parties
  • share your data with third parties for marketing purposes

We will share your data if we are required to do so by law, such as by court order, or to prevent fraud or any other crime.

How long do we keep your data

We will only retain your personal data for as long as:

  • it is necessary for the purposes of RDI Landscape review (which will end in summer 2022)
  • the law requires us to

In general, this means that we will only retain your personal data for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 7 years.

your rights

You have the right to:

  • request information about how your personal data is processed and request a copy of that personal data.
  • request that any inaccuracies in your personal data be corrected without delay.
  • request that incomplete personal data be completed, including by means of a supplementary declaration.
  • request that your personal data be erased if there is no longer any justification for their processing.
  • in certain circumstances (for example, where the accuracy is disputed), request that the processing of your personal data be restricted.
  • object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes.
  • object to the processing of your personal data.

We may modify or amend this Privacy Notice at our discretion at any time. When we make changes to this notice, the last modified date at the top of this page will be updated. Any modifications or amendments to this Privacy Notice will apply to you and your data as of this revision date. If these changes affect the way your personal data is processed, BEIS will take reasonable steps to ensure that you know this.
