Director of Space and Autonomous Systems Research Development (SASRD) at the University of North Dakota

The University of North Dakota (UND) seeks a dynamic and outgoing leader to fill the position of Director of Space and Autonomous Systems Research Development (SASRD). The SASRD Director will facilitate an effort to bring together the UND research and education community to build a comprehensive approach to space and autonomous systems related research and development (R&D). The Director of SASRD is responsible for developing breakthrough partnerships and opportunities to enhance the university’s research portfolio in space and autonomous systems within, as appropriate, the UND’s national security research portfolio, in order to position the UND as a valuable leader, resource and partner. in the fields of space and autonomous systems research. The director understands, prioritizes, and communicates basic and applied research funding opportunities and federal activities and liaises on behalf of the university with federal agency representatives regarding space and autonomous systems research. The Director works closely with campus leadership, faculty, academic units, VPRED, AVPR for National Security Research, and the Executive Director of the Autonomous Systems Research Institute to articulate and focus campus strengths and catalyze compelling initiatives in areas of emerging interest in space and autonomous systems research. The Director of SASRD will have significant experience in project or program management or business management within the federal government or industry related to national security.
